Castle Heights Student Government consists of 12 members who prepare
and enact school activities for the entire student body.
They conduct three fund-raisers during the school year: the pumpkin
auction, the Valentine sucker sale, and the spring chocolate bunny
sale. These monies will be used to develop an art gallery in the
school’s foyer which will showcase student artwork. A ten-foot
knight, Sir Learn-a-Lot, was recently purchased. Last year nearly
$1,000 was raised for the Leukemia Foundation.
Student Government members are also kept busy planning many fun
activities for the student body. The Thanksgiving Food Drive,
Adopt-a-Family Angel Tree, Leprechaun for a Day, Sports Day, Random
Acts of Kindness Week, and Read-a-thons are a few of the many projects
they have sponsored.
The Castle Heights Student Government members are taught and
perform parliamentary procedure during each meeting. They learn to
work cooperatively and independently, developing skills necessary for
interacting with others. They learn and practice responsibility and
organizational skills. The students learn to set priorities, identify
goals, and approach tasks by actively participating in all student
government activities. Since no school time is provided for meetings,
the twelve members graciously meet during their lunch time on
Tuesdays.
