Dear Students and Parents,

We are so excited to be starting the new school year! Your classroom teacher has been working hard these past few weeks preparing the classroom for school which starts on Thursday, August 14th, 2025 at 8:10 am for all 1st - 5th grade students. Classroom teachers will begin greeting their new students on the playground near their outside classroom door at 7:50 am the first day of school. The entrance bell rings daily at 8:10 am and the tardy bell rings at 8:15 am. School dismisses Tuesday-Friday at 2:40 pm. On Mondays, students are dismissed early at 1:20 pm so that teachers can participate in school wide Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).

Kindergarten students will participate in their beginning-of-year testing on Wednesday, August 13 and Thursday, August 14.  The first day of school for Kindergarten students will be on Monday, August 18th

School breakfast is $1.60* and school lunch is $2.20* for students. Students who want to purchase milk only will be charged $0.50*. Visit our school webpage for the link to apply for free and/or reduced lunch if you need to be considered for this waiver or contact the office. Breakfast will be served from 7:45-8:10 am. This is when the building will be unlocked and supervision begins for students. (*prices from 2024-2025)

Students can pay their school lunch money in the cafeteria each morning before the school day begins. Parents can also pay for a student's lunch on the Carbon School District website at https://www.carbonschools.org/. Look for the “Nutrition and Services” tab. Daily Breakfast and Lunch Menus for each school is also available on this tab.

Mark your calendar for our Back-2-School Night on Thursday, August 21st from 5:00-7:00 pm.  Parents will meet in your child's classroom for teacher specific information. Back-2-School Night rotations will be from 5:00-7:00 pm with 3 sessions for parents to attend: 5:00-5:40 pm, 5:45-6:20, and  6:25-7:00 pm.

Our School Community Council (SCC) is looking for volunteers! If you are interested in understanding the decision-making process regarding school improvement goals and asset allocation provided by the Utah Lands Trust, please consider joining in on our meetings. Alex Krum is our current Chairperson and Maria Garcia is our Vice-Chairperson.  We are tentatively planning on holding our first SCC meeting on Thursday, September 18th at 2 pm in the CHE library.

Another great way to get involved in school happenings is to join our PTA.  Leslie Holzier is our PTA president and she has exciting ideas for the 2025-2026 school year. Please stop by the PTA table during Back-2-School night to sign up for your PTA membership.

Parents can stay informed with classroom/school activities by checking your child’s backpack daily for letters from their teacher/school. Please make sure that the office has your current phone number so that you receive text messages and updates directly from the school.

I look forward to this new school year and working with all of you.

See you soon!
