Carbon School District is seeking applications for a Check & Connect Aide. Check & Connect is an intervention used with K-12 students who show warning signs of disengagement with school and who are at risk of dropping out. At the core of Check & Connect is a trusting relationship between the student and a caring, trained mentor who both advocates for and challenges the student to keep their educational goals moving forward. Students are referred to Check & Connect when they show warning signs of disengaging from school, such as poor attendance, behavioral issues, and/or low grades. WIll work 29 hours per week. Information about winter sports: All athletes and cheerleaders will be bringing home a paper that states all of the rules we need to follow in order to have sports. Parents & athletes need to sign it and bring it back in order to participate. Only parents and infants 2 and younger are allowed to be in the gym to watch games. Everyone is required to wear a mask and social distance in the gym. We have to follow all of these rules so we can continue to have sports this winter. Thank you!

Carbon School District is seeking application for a full time Custodian. Custodians are responsible for keeping buildings clean and in an orderly condition. A custodian plays an essential role in maintaining the building and supporting a learning environment that promotes health, attitude and pride of students. In addition to regular building maintenance functions, the school custodian provides direct support to classroom teachers in set up and maintenance of furniture and equipment. The school custodian also serves as a role model for students by displaying a professional, courteous, and helpful nature. They have to perform heavy cleaning duties, such as washing walls and windows, shampooing rugs, cleaning floors, removing rubbish and performing routine maintenance activities. Custodians also have to notify management of repairs needed, tend to furnaces and boilers and clean snow and other debris from sidewalks. The duties required of a custodian include replenishing stock in bathrooms, cleaning restrooms, gathering and emptying trash, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, monitoring building safety and security and dusting. Keeping the school as clean and tidy as possible is the overall responsibility of a custodian. They should be prepared to do things like moving heavy furniture to reach corners, cracks and crevices of covered parts of the room. They may have to clean laboratory equipment, such as computers and tables, mow and trim lawns and clean chimneys, flues and pipes with the use of power tools. This position will be based out of the district office but will also be required to "roam" among schools as the need to fill in is required. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have previous experience in janitorial work. Must be able to climb ladders and lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Must be able to pass a live scan fingerprint background check (cost of $25). This position will remain open until filled.

Carbon School District is seeking applications for a part time Business Office Financial Assistant. Will do basic accounting and clerical duties as assigned. May be asked to assist with any functions of the business office including payroll, accounts payable, purchasing and/or accounting. Will enter financial data into the accounting and payroll systems. Will oversee Employee Absence Management system. Will maintain payroll and financial records. Must have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Must have a knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google G Suite, incredible attention to detail, great organizational skills, basic knowledge of accounting practices, good time management skills, the ability to work independently and on a team. Carbon School District is seeking Sub Bus Drivers. Paid training provided to obtain Class B CDL with passenger and school bus endorsement. Responsible for safely transporting children to and from school and related events. Drives a school transportation vehicle within a prescribed route(s) in accordance with time schedules; picking up and discharging students at designated stops. Transports students and teacher on field trips to various locations; planning necessary route(s) and stops as needed. Maintains order and proper discipline of student passengers according to district policy. Conducts safety and operational inspection of assigned vehicle daily. Reports needed mechanical repairs when necessary. Services buses with gas, diesel fuel, and oil; checks and when necessary fills tires and batteries. Performs periodical safety drills as required by law; completing necessary reports upon request. Maintains cleanliness of vehicle to ensure safe operating condition. Attends various meetings regarding safety, first aid and training updates as required. Attends driver training programs to maintain current knowledge of Utah Motor Vehicle Code and the Education Code as it applies to the operation of vehicles in the transportation of school children. Performs other related duties as required. Will work approximately 20 hours per week. Must be able to pass a Live Scan fingerprint background check (cost $25). Important Updates: Picture day is Thursday Sept. 24th The football game on Friday has changed to 2pm. The football team will not be in the parade. Homecoming for CHS is Friday. We will NOT be walking down to the parade. If the students want to go to the parade they need to be checked out by a parent/guardian. We will not let them leave without being checked out. Parents of 7th graders. Join us for an informational meeting about your student’s College and Career Awareness class and other important in formation. Held two different times during P/T conference. You only have to attend ONE of the session. The other time you can visit teachers. Your student’s name will be put in a drawing for some awesome prizes if you attend with them.
Carbon School District is seeking applications for a part time (20 hour per week) Sweeper at Mont Harmon Middle School. Must have a general knowledge of custodial work and be able to perform minor maintenance on the building and grounds such as small electrical fixes, changing air filters and painting. Interested applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent. This is an evening position. Person hired must be able to pass a Live Scan fingerprint background screening with an associated $25 processing fee. Those interested in applying can do so by filling out the Classified Employee Application found at www.carbonschools.org under the Employment Opportunities button on the Home page. To be considered, your application must be received no later than 3:00 pm on November 22, 2019.
Message from Sheriff Wood- I want to personally wish everyone a happy Halloween! With that said I want to remind everybody that we want you to have fun but don’t let Halloween mischief turn criminal. Be respectful of people’s personal property and keep an eye out for the trick or treaters tonight in our travels. We will have extra patrols in the areas we believe will be most impacted by this event. Extra patrols will be conducted with two person teams riding UTV’s in order to assist with traffic/pedestrian control. We feel this is a great opportunity for our Deputies to interact with the public in a fun and positive way. They will have candy to give out to the kids, but would ask that the public only approach our UTV’s when they are safely parked on the curb. We want everyone to have fun, but want to remind everybody to be careful while driving through these busy neighborhoods tonight. I wanted to bring up a topic that has been on my mind a lot recently. The use of social media at times is a blessing and a curse. I would ask that before you make a post, to think about the outcomes of the post and the purpose of your message. All too often I see social media posts that are posted with good intentions, but become a negative message in the community. From a law enforcement standpoint it needs to be known that we cannot always post details of an investigation but will always make public safety a top priority. We will never take unnecessary risks with public safety and will assure you the public will be notified immediately upon a serious and substantiated threat to our community. This notification would come through all media outlets, social media and the phone systems in the event of an actual substantiated issue. The fact that a single unsubstantiated post on social media can spread through the community and cause panic is frustrating. All too often the facts get skewed in the rumor mill, but may be portrayed as actual and factual information which can causes panic in the community. Please be careful of what you post, contact your local law enforcement upon any suspicious activity, questions, or concerns. Trust that your local law enforcement agency is taking your concerns seriously and appropriate measures are in place. You are always welcome to contact me with any questions or concerns that may be related to an event or incident that has occurred in our community. I would like to remind you “if you see something say something”. Again, I would like to wish everyone a happy Halloween, have fun but be careful out there.
