As you all have heard this past week, Governor Herbert has extended the soft closure through the remainder of the school year. Our next round of packets will be going out this coming Monday, April 20th. Please come to the school and pick your child’s next two weeks of work up between the hours of 8:00 am and 1:00 pm. Also if your child has checked out a library book, please bring it and put into the library box. We are still working out the wrinkles of how we will get your child’s belongings back to them in a safe manner that is compliant with all Health Department regulations. Thank you so much for working with us through this COVID-19 stage. We want to give a big “THANKS” to our wonderful parents who have been helping their children and supporting us as a school. Everyone stay safe! WE CAN DO HARD THINGS, GO BULLS!
Sally Mauro students: You can do anything you set your mind to. During this time, you can become a scientist in your own yard. You ARE a teacher when you have a packet of work to do. You choose how hard you want to work. Your ideas and voice matter to many. Teacher’s love and miss you daily. We are and will make it through these hard days. Keep your heads up and look for the positives in each challenge you face. Love The Sally Mauro Staff
All of us at Sally Mauro Elementary would like to thank Balance Rock Eatery and R & A Market for their generosity of feeding the students that live in Helper, Spring Glen, Kenilworth and Carbonville over spring break. They were able to step up and provide breakfast and lunches to the students. Even though you will want to run up and give them a hug, please follow social distancing requirements and stay safe. You are all AMAZING!
Amazing parents of the amazing students of Sally Mauro Elementary. Please remember to come to the school between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM to pick up your child’s homework packets for the next three weeks. Also remember that one of those weeks we will still be participating in spring break so you will only have 2 weeks worth of work. Please remember that if your child is struggling with any of the work, that they may contact the teachers throughout the day from 8 AM to 3 PM Monday through Friday. You may also email the teachers anytime you feel the need. The exceptional staff at Sally Mauro are working extremely hard to make this all come together.

Message from Sheriff Wood- I want to personally wish everyone a happy Halloween! With that said I want to remind everybody that we want you to have fun but don’t let Halloween mischief turn criminal. Be respectful of people’s personal property and keep an eye out for the trick or treaters tonight in our travels. We will have extra patrols in the areas we believe will be most impacted by this event. Extra patrols will be conducted with two person teams riding UTV’s in order to assist with traffic/pedestrian control. We feel this is a great opportunity for our Deputies to interact with the public in a fun and positive way. They will have candy to give out to the kids, but would ask that the public only approach our UTV’s when they are safely parked on the curb. We want everyone to have fun, but want to remind everybody to be careful while driving through these busy neighborhoods tonight. I wanted to bring up a topic that has been on my mind a lot recently. The use of social media at times is a blessing and a curse. I would ask that before you make a post, to think about the outcomes of the post and the purpose of your message. All too often I see social media posts that are posted with good intentions, but become a negative message in the community. From a law enforcement standpoint it needs to be known that we cannot always post details of an investigation but will always make public safety a top priority. We will never take unnecessary risks with public safety and will assure you the public will be notified immediately upon a serious and substantiated threat to our community. This notification would come through all media outlets, social media and the phone systems in the event of an actual substantiated issue. The fact that a single unsubstantiated post on social media can spread through the community and cause panic is frustrating. All too often the facts get skewed in the rumor mill, but may be portrayed as actual and factual information which can causes panic in the community. Please be careful of what you post, contact your local law enforcement upon any suspicious activity, questions, or concerns. Trust that your local law enforcement agency is taking your concerns seriously and appropriate measures are in place. You are always welcome to contact me with any questions or concerns that may be related to an event or incident that has occurred in our community. I would like to remind you “if you see something say something”. Again, I would like to wish everyone a happy Halloween, have fun but be careful out there. I am proud to be part of this community and honored to be in the position of Sheriff. We truly live in a great place. Thanks Jeff Wood
Sally Mauro Elementary wants to inform all parents and students that tomorrow we will be doing our Halloween parade at 8:30 in the morning. Parents may come watch the parade in the morning. Students may wear their costumes for the parade and throughout the day if it is not a distraction to the learning environment. Masks will be allowed for only the parade then the students will need to take them off and put them away in their backpacks. Absolutely no weapons of any sort will be allowed in the school that go with costumes.
We want to let everybody know that we have started something new at Sally Mauro. Each month we will be giving away a perfect attendance award to a student. We will also be putting parents names into a drawing if your child had perfect attendance for that month. The school will contact you if you are the winner. Get your kids to school!
