After 32 years and 8 months of dedicated service as a Speech Pathologist with Carbon School District, DaVette Butcher is retiring with a heart full of gratitude and memories.

DaVette’s journey to Utah began 34 years ago when she and her husband decided the state seemed like the perfect blend of Colorado and Arizona. Responding to a job advertisement in a professional magazine, she interviewed over the phone, accepted the position, and packed up a U-Haul with two children, a beagle, and a heavily sedated cat to head west for a new adventure.

That leap of faith became one of the best professional decisions of her life.

Over the years, Carbon School District became far more than a workplace. It became a second home. DaVette shares that she was given countless opportunities to grow and thrive throughout her career and that very few days passed without excitement for the challenges ahead. She is deeply grateful for the resources, encouragement, and support that allowed her to serve students in the way they deserved.

As she reflects on more than three decades of service, DaVette looks back with fond memories, warm appreciation, and a full heart.

Thank you, DaVette, for the incredible impact you have made in the lives of students, families, and colleagues throughout your career. Congratulations on your retirement, and best wishes for the adventures ahead!
