Carbon School District is seeking applications for a Kindergarten Teacher at Wellington Elementary in Wellington, Utah. Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to facilitate Kindergarten student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.   Develops and administers school elementary curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives. Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed. Instructs students in the principles of responsible citizenship and other subject matters specified in applicable laws, as well as administrative regulations and procedures of the school system. Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research. Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws. Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents. Ensures that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom. Coordinates with other elementary professional staff members, especially within grade level, to evaluate and assess curriculum, and participates in faculty meetings and committees. Selects and requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records. Supervises students in activities that take place out of the classroom during the school day, including activities involving school transportation. Administers standardized tests in accordance with District testing programs. Carbon School District would like to thank the Wellington Fire Department, Wellington Police Department, and the Utah Highway Patrol for their immediate and thorough response to a minor collision involving a school bus this morning. Wellington had 8 responders arrive on the scene. Those responders were split into two teams. One team of two firefighters and EMTs worked on checking the other vehicle involved and the occupants of that vehicle. The second team of two firefighters, an advanced EMT, and a paramedic evaluated the school bus driver and students. A second bus was dispatched to the scene to safely transport the students to school. We greatly appreciate the continued collaboration between first responders and district personnel.

Parents, Due to an isolated plumbing issue in our kitchen, we are unable to cook hot lunch today. Students will receive a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, string cheese, chips and milk. Students with a nut allergy will receive cheese sandwiches, string cheese, chips and milk. If this lunch is not something your child would eat, please feel free to bring them a lunch from home. CSD Parents, Thank you all for your patience and support today as we managed the snow!! Our schools were full and kids had a wonderfully normal day. As of tonight, our plan is to run buses and start school at the normal time tomorrow morning. We will continue to monitor the weather reports, accumulation, ice, and plowing efforts. We will notify everyone by 6:00 am tomorrow if there will be a late start. If you do not receive a text notification by 6:00am with information about a late start, then all buses and schools will be on their regular schedule. Carbon School District is seeking applications for a part time Sweeper at Wellington Elementary School in Wellington Utah. This position will work afternoon/evenings.  Will work approximately 20 hours per week. Help with the operation, upkeep and cleaning of the assigned school building and grounds. Keep the building comfortable, safe and clear for all times the building is scheduled for use.  Custodial duties include cleaning walls, windows, furniture, floors (carpet & tile), and cleaning restrooms. Stripping and waxing tile floors, refurbishing gym floors periodically. Other custodial duties as assigned by head custodian including minor maintenance on the building and grounds. From December 5th to December 9th, 300 North in Wellington to Old Wellington Road will be closed. Students living on Old Wellington Road between North Coal Creek Road and Wellington City will need to meet the bus at the North Coal Creek Road and Old Wellington Road to be picked up and dropped off. This closure is causing the buses that go down Old Wellington Road to be re-routed; therefore, this afternoon drivers on buses 2, 7, and 4 will be handing out new pick up and drop off times to the students on these routes. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate this road closure. We are expecting that all the routes will return to their regular routes and schedules on December 12th.

REMINDER--Please do not drop your children off before 7:20 am. The front doors open at 7:20 am and we do not have supervision before 7:20 am. Also, please make sure your children are wearing winter clothing. We will be going outside daily when the temperature is higher than 30 degrees.

Carbon School District is seeking applications for Guest Teachers throughout the District. Guest Teachers provide backup teaching services when full-time teachers are unable to work. Guest Teachers execute lesson plans left by the absent teacher. Guest Teachers create and maintain a respectful and fair classroom culture that fosters safe and productive learning. Guest Teachers monitor, observe, and report student behavior according to school policies and procedures. Must be a high school graduate and be at least age 18.  Will be required to pass a Live Scan fingerprint background check as well as a one hour online training course.  Pay is $100 for a full day and $50 for a half day. Important Information for Halloween:

Volunteers needed for tomorrow, Wednesday, October 19th at 2:45 pm. We will be building a shed and a platform for our new greenhouse that is in the back playground area of the school. All help is welcome. Bring tools if you can.

HELP NEEDED: We are excited to announce that our school is working with USU-E on a STEM grant and we have received a Greenhouse, shed and other items. We will be working this Friday, October 7th at 2:40 pm to start to set up the platforms and building the shed. We are looking for volunteers willing to come and help.
