Parents and Families, We are now required by the Utah State Board of Education to collect survey results from you. They have developed the survey tool. On March 22nd Bruin Point Elementary School will be holding Kindergarten Registration from 9-11am. Please make sure you bring your child's birth certificate and immunization records. See you Monday!

BPE Families, Due to COVID Valentine's Day Celebrations will be a little different than previous years. We have decided to allow students to bring Valentine's Cards and boxes to school on Friday, February 12th. Students can bring boxes already made or they can make one at school. Valentine's cards can be brought but no treats are allowed to come to school with their cards. Please do not send cards with candy attached or candy cards. All snacks or treats will be provided by the school. No outside treats will be allowed (just like Halloween and Christmas). COVID guidelines state that items should be quarantined for 24-48 hours. Therefore, students will not be taking their Valentine's boxes home until the following Tuesday when students return to school after Presidents' Day. Carbon School District is seeking applications for a part time Behavior Interventionist/Reset Room Para Pro. Will work with students who have special needs. Will work 29 hours per week. Carbon School District is seeking applications for Substitute Kitchen workers.  These workers will assist kitchen managers with various duties in the school kitchens such as: preparing food, serving students, dishes, cleanup,  sweeping, mopping, storing food, and any other duties that may be required.  Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Just a reminder- The Virtual Christmas Program will begin at 1pm. It will stream live on Bruin Point's Facebook page. We are not sure it we will be able to record and provide CD's for families. We are still working on it. Please join us in Celebrating the holidays. Our beautiful children have worked very hard in preparing this special performance.

Parents, Tonight is the last night to register your child online for their free adventure pass from PBS-https://www.pbsutah.org/28th-annual-reading-marathon. This reward is for the Reading Marathon for the months of Oct-Dec (600 minutes total). After you register, you will receive an email with the pass to be printed. It takes only a minute. If you cannot print the pass at home, please contact the school and we will print it for you.

Carbon School District is seeking applications for a Check & Connect Aide. Check & Connect is an intervention used with K-12 students who show warning signs of disengagement with school and who are at risk of dropping out. At the core of Check & Connect is a trusting relationship between the student and a caring, trained mentor who both advocates for and challenges the student to keep their educational goals moving forward. Students are referred to Check & Connect when they show warning signs of disengaging from school, such as poor attendance, behavioral issues, and/or low grades.  WIll work 29 hours per week. Dear BPE Families, Many of you received a phone call today regarding a proposal to have Monday, Dec. 14th as a teacher work day and not have students attending school. This proposal was not approved for this coming Monday. BPE will have students in school on Monday, Dec 14th. Thank you to all that provided input on this matter. Carbon School District is seeking applications for a 5th grade teacher at Bruin Point Elementary School in Sunnyside, Utah. Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc. Develops and administers school elementary curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives. Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction. Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed. Instructs students in the principles of responsible citizenship and other subject matters specified in applicable laws, as well as administrative regulations and procedures of the school system. Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research. Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws. Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents. Ensures that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom. Coordinates with other elementary professional staff members, especially within grade level, to evaluate and assess curriculum, and participates in faculty meetings and committees. Selects and requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records. Supervises students in activities that take place out of the classroom during the school day, including activities involving school transportation. Administers standardized tests in accordance with District testing programs. Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other administrators as designated by the Superintendent.   Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required. Must have a State of Utah Certification in grades K-6 or have qualified to receive an APT or ARL license from the Utah Board of Education or be able to change an out of state license to a Utah license or be willing to obtain such. *This position will remain open until filled*

Dear Parents and Guardians, In response to Gov. Herbert's new COVID-19 guidelines Bruin Point Elementary School, under the direction of Carbon School District Administration, will be putting into place new guidelines/requirement for the next two weeks, beginning today, November 9 and ending November 23, 2020. Guidelines/Requirements are as follows; • Masks must cover both nose and mouth, be secure under the chin and fit snuggly against the side of the nose and face. • If students do not have a mask that fits properly, they will be sent to the office to get a disposable mask. • Masks will be worn at all times, including recess, with the exception of while students are eating. • If students do not wear their mask properly, they will receive 2 warnings then be referred to the office and parents will be contacted and student may be sent home. We are asking for your help to instill the importance of following the prescribed guideline/requirements. Our goal is to keep students in school and safe. Thank you, Connie Todachinnie

Duties include entering student account numbers into the Aspire system as students come through cafeteria lines, collecting account payments, applying payments to student and staff accounts, notifying parents/guardians of account deficits, and tracking data for monthly reports.  Other duties include helping as needed in the kitchen and communicating with school administration, faculty and staff.  Food handler permit is required upon hiring.  Will work approximately 10 hours per week. Carbon School District is seeking application for a full time Custodian. Custodians are responsible for keeping buildings clean and in an orderly condition. A custodian plays an essential role in maintaining the building and supporting a learning environment that promotes health, attitude and pride of students. In addition to regular building maintenance functions, the school custodian provides direct support to classroom teachers in set up and maintenance of furniture and equipment. The school custodian also serves as a role model for students by displaying a professional, courteous, and helpful nature. They have to perform heavy cleaning duties, such as washing walls and windows, shampooing rugs, cleaning floors, removing rubbish and performing routine maintenance activities. Custodians also have to notify management of repairs needed, tend to furnaces and boilers and clean snow and other debris from sidewalks. The duties required of a custodian include replenishing stock in bathrooms, cleaning restrooms, gathering and emptying trash, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, monitoring building safety and security and dusting. Keeping the school as clean and tidy as possible is the overall responsibility of a custodian. They should be prepared to do things like moving heavy furniture to reach corners, cracks and crevices of covered parts of the room. They may have to clean laboratory equipment, such as computers and tables, mow and trim lawns and clean chimneys, flues and pipes with the use of power tools. This position will be based out of the district office but will also be required to "roam" among schools as the need to fill in is required.  Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have previous experience in janitorial work.   Must be able to climb ladders and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.    Must be able to pass a live scan fingerprint background check (cost of $25).  This position will remain open until filled.

Carbon School District is seeking applications for a part time Business Office Financial Assistant. Will do basic accounting and clerical duties as assigned. May be asked to assist with any functions of the business office including payroll, accounts payable, purchasing and/or accounting. Will enter financial data into the accounting and payroll systems. Will oversee Employee Absence Management system. Will maintain payroll and financial records. Must have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.  Must have a knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google G Suite, incredible attention to detail, great organizational skills, basic knowledge of accounting practices, good time management skills, the ability to work independently and on a team.
