Seniors, on April 13th and 14th, seniors  will have an opportunity to share and celebrate some of what they have learned in their high school career.  The radio station is planning to highlight the class of 2022 by playing segments of seniors talking about their plans and experiences. We will be calling students down on Wednesday and Thursday from 9am to 1pm to complete the 3 - 5 minute  interview.  If your student would like to participate, they should come when they are called or contact Mr. Brooks if they need to be called down at a specific time.
Both CHS Baseball and Softball have cancelled their games against Grand High for later today (3/29). Baseball has rescheduled their games for tomorrow (3/30).
Carbon School District is seeking applications for a Dean of Students at Carbon High School in Price, Utah.  The Dean of Students will work closely with the principal, school personnel and students to build and maintain a positive, safe school climate.  Teaching and/or leadership experience in a school setting demonstrating use and implementation of successful student behavior management strategies.  The Dean of Students will oversee Tier 3 behavior, academic and attendance students.  The Dean of Students will also oversee the alternate education program at Carbon High School.  In addition to these duties, the Dean of Students will assist the CTE Director in CTE responsibilities.  Knowledge of positive behavioral interventions and support; ability to create and implement student behavior expectations; must have conflict resolution strategies, must have knowledge of State policy and laws affecting the management of student behaviors.  Must have the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents and community members; collaborate and communicate effectively with key stakeholders through a variety of methods; provide leadership of behavior management and supervision; facilitate the resolution of conflict; plan, organize and manage time and resources.   Must have at least a Bachelor’s degree. Congrats to the Varsity and JV Quiz Bowl teams at Carbon! The JV took 4th place and the Varsity took 2nd place in a nail-biting finish at the Green River Tournament today! Congrats Carbon Quiz Bowl! Good luck at the Region Tournament next week!


Any students involved in credit recovery, we will be holding labs on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6-8.  This is our final push for seniors before graduation as well as those that are wanting to get a jump start before summer school and next year.  Mrs. Bryner and Mrs. Baker will be available to help students during those times.  
We are excited to be hosting Junior Prom tonight.  We wanted to provide some reminders for tonight.  Students will have to have their school ID to get into the dance or be able to pull up their SIS account to show they attend Carbon High.  If their dates are not students at Carbon High they will have to have a guest pass that is signed by that students school administrator and signed by a Carbon High Administrator.  Those are turned in at the ticket table.   Students have to be at least in 9th grade to attend Prom and cannot be older than 19.  Middle school students will not be allowed in.  Promenade will begin at 6:00 for juniors, families are welcome to attend the Promenade.  The gym will be cleared at the conclusion and then students will be able enter the Prom beginning at 7:00 pm.  Outside doors will be locked at 8:30 pm and no students will be allowed in after 8:30 pm.  If students leave the building at any time during the dance they will not be let back into the dance.  Thank you for helping us make this an outstanding Prom for our students.   
Correction to our last message.  The open lab for credit recovery will be on March 18th all day during the teacher professional development day.
CHS parents a reminder that Prom will be Thursday March 17th.  Promenade will be from 6-7 and the dance will be 7-10.  Parents are welcome to attend the Promenade.  To accommodate for Prom Thursday March 17th we will run an early out Monday schedule.  Buses will pick up at 12:45. Any students wanting extra time working on credit recovery the credit recovery lab will be open after school that day.

Helps students grow in their enjoyment, appreciation and performance of music through a variety of planned music experiences. Teaches skills in music appreciation, harmony and in instrumental music and/or choral music. Utilizes course of study adopted by the Board of Education. Instructs pupils in the basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district. Plans a balanced music program and organizes daily class time so preparation, rehearsal and instruction can be accomplished within allotted time. Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and attempts to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil. Communicates with parents and appropriate school personnel on pupil progress. Cooperates with the school administration in providing musical programs for school productions and civic functions. Supervises pupils in out-of classroom activities as assigned. Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs. Participates in faculty committees and sponsorship of pupil activities.There is the possibility of teaching Piano classes as well. This position will start with the 2022-2023 school year

Carbon School District is seeking applications for a Counselor at Carbon High School.  A high school counselor plays the role of academic advisor to high school students. If students are not meeting course requirements or are having disciplinary problems, high school counselors may intervene to remedy the situation. The first priority of the counselor is to ensure that students perform their best academically. Counselors in secondary education are tasked with helping adolescents navigate the unique educational, social and behavioral obstacles related to attending high school. This may include issues such as staying in school and avoiding substance abuse. They must also act as social workers, seeking to identify home-based problems that may negatively impact the academic and social development of students. A high school counselor is expected to be very knowledgeable of career preparation in order to provide advice to students regarding education and employment options after high school. Counselors supply admission requirements for colleges and training programs, and otherwise help students with graduation preparedness. To this end, counselors may invite Armed Forces recruiters and business leaders to the school to explain the benefits of their industries to high school graduates. They may also plan and execute career fairs and volunteer internships.
Common duties include disseminating of scholarship information, supplying school-to-career guidance, interpreting standardized test scores, developing guidance curriculum, providing student resources, counseling individual students, coordinating with social service agencies, maintaining records, facilitating conferences and orientating new students. They may work with students one-on-one, in a private setting with teachers and parents, or with peers in a group assembly or discussion forum. Carbon School District is seeking applications for a Special Education/IEP support teacher.  The Special Education IEP support teacher will be responsible for assisting with UPIPS monitoring requirements, file reviews, and supporting special education teachers in the development and compliance of IEP files. CHS parents, this is a reminder about tomorrow's schedule.  The juniors will be taking the ACT test tomorrow morning.  In order to have a quiet environment for them 9th, 10th, and 12th graders will not need to attend.  Juniors please be to school no later than 8:00 AM so you can get checked in and we can start the test as soon as we can.  8th graders will be coming to the school in the afternoon to learn about registering for next year.  Students in credit recovery who want to continue to work can come and work in the library.  However, they will not be allowed to leave the library during testing.  
Parents, on Tuesday March 8th, the juniors will be taking the ACT test in the morning.  To create a quiet environment for them freshmen, sophomores, and seniors will not be required to attend that day.  When the ACT is completed the 8th grade will come to Carbon High for orientation and registration.  9th, 10th, and 12th grade students who are enrolled in credit recovery and would like to come to continue to work on their classes are welcome to work in the library.  However, they will only be allowed in the library and won't be allowed to move around the school.

Carbon School District is seeking applications for a Child Nutrition Program Supervisor.  The Child Nutrition Program Supervisor oversees all aspects of the Child Nutrition Program (CNP) throughout the school district.  The job functions will include administrating, planning, directing, and evaluating the program in order to meet the nutritional and educational needs of students.  
Position responsibilities include establish quality standards for the presentation and service of food; implement a department-wide customer service philosophy focused on value and satisfaction; develop cost-effective menus that maintain nutritional integrity and meet state and federal guidelines and regulations; assess student preferences, industry trends, and current research to plan menus that encourage participation in the CNP. Work with school staff, teachers, parents, and physicians to plan menus for students with special nutrition needs. Establish procedures to ensure food is prepared and served in a sanitary and safe environment. Integrate employee safety regulations into all phases of the school food service operation. 
Manage the CNP using appropriate financial management techniques
Ensure all records and supporting documentation are maintained in accordance with district, state and federal laws and policies.
Oversee the hiring, training, and evaluation of departmental staff
Must have a knowledge of menu planning, food purchasing, and preparation of foods in food service environment, experience with budget management, experience supervising personnel and strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.  Must have a Bachelor’s degree in one of the following areas:  Foods and Nutrition, Food Service Management, Dietetics, Family and Consumer Science, Culinary Arts, Business, or related field* OR Bachelor’s degree in any academic major and at least two years of relevant school nutrition programs experience* OR an Associate’s degree in one of the following areas:  Foods and Nutrition, Food Service Management, Dietetics, Family and Consumer Science, Culinary Arts, Business, or related field and at least two years of relevant school nutrition programs experience*

Students and Parents remember this weeks boys and  girls games are state playoff games. Passes and student ID'S will not get you into the game. Ticket prices are $6 for adults and $4 for students and seniors.
