Carbon High School

Dear Parents and Guardians, Approximately an hour ago we had a report of a potential dangerous person at Carbon High School and the school was immediately put on lock down. Administration and local law enforcement responded and the situation was found to be an unsubstantiated threat. The lock down has been lifted and all after school activities have resumed as normal. We appreciate all involved including the community members who followed guidance from law enforcement and district personnel. Thank you, Mika Salas

Carbon School District is seeking applications for a Drama/Theater Teacher at Carbon High School in Price, Utah. Under the direction of the school principal, the classroom teacher is responsible for creating a positive learning environment where students develop the skills to become critical thinkers, problem solvers, lifelong learners and productive citizens. Teachers maintain a safe environment; establish rapport with students, parents and colleagues; motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for further education and do so in accordance with each student’s ability. Teachers differentiate curriculum and use effective research-based methods of instruction. Implement Proficiency-Based Grading in Student Evaluations. The Theatre Teacher is responsible for teaching high school theatre classes to students at all levels from beginning to advanced including tech theatre training. Qualified candidates will develop and deliver theatre curriculum leading students toward mastery of essential skills and techniques. Parents: We are about to send Third Quarter Honor Roll names and Class of ‘24 Graduate Photos to our local news agencies in order to celebrate our students’ accomplishments. Due to change over in Student Information Systems, we still have many students with permissions that are not verified and updated if needed. We ask that if you do NOT wish to have your child’s name and/or picture in the local news media for this purpose, please contact the Carbon High School office by tomorrow (Friday 04/12/2024) at 3:00pm. Students, if you are interested in taking Introduction to Automotive (AUTO 1000) or Small Engine Repair next school year (these classes are taught by USU Eastern), please come pick up an application in the counseling office. Space for these classes is limited and acceptance by the USU instructors is required. The deadline to apply for these classes is May 10th.

The USU Eastern welding faculty will be at Carbon High on April 17th during advisory. They will talk about the welding program as well as explain what students need to do to take a class next school year. If you are interested in taking any level of welding next year, please plan to come to this advisory. Come put your name on the sign up sheet in the counseling office to be able to attend.

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. This is a part time position working approximately 20 hours per week.  Must be able to pass a Live Scan fingerprint background screening. The Assistant High School Cheerleading Coach promotes sportsmanship and physical fitness among students. Supervises all cheerleader activities, and works closely with other staff and the administration. Coordinate and supervise cheerleading activities at district, league, state, and other levels.  Assist the head coach in designing training program.  Promote sportsmanship and physical fitness.  Ensure that all cheerleader activities conform to UHSAA guidelines. Handle other tasks as assigned. Previous experience as a Cheer Coach or Cheerleader is a plus.  Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.   Must also be able to pass a Live Scan fingerprint background screening. Tryouts for the 2024-25 CHS Cheer and Drill Teams Registration for Competitive Cheer and Drill for the 2024-25 school year are now open on Aktivate. If you are planning to tryout for either team you must be registered on Aktivate prior to the tryout date for each team. Cheer tryouts will be held April 9-11 and Drill tryouts will be held April 17-19. Please get this taken care of ASAP. Please call 435-613-4227 for more information or questions.

Reminder tomorrow is our ACT testing day. The only students that need to come to school are juniors. Regulations are listed below: These are ACT regulations and failure to follow them will result in you being removed from the testing session. Rooms will open at 7:45 AM and doors will be shut promptly at 8:00. Once the doors are shut no students will be allowed into the room. No Smart watches or phones are allowed in the testing rooms. No food or drink allowed in the testing room. No talking will be allowed while the test is going on. Bring an approved calculator, if needed talk to a math teacher to borrow one. Leave all personal belongings in your car, like purses, backpacks, and phones. BRING A PHOTO ID. Bring a #2 pencil. Good luck on the test and we look forward to seeing you in the morning.

Wednesday, March 13th, is Carbon High's ACT day. Only juniors are required to come. Juniors need to be checked in and in their testing rooms by 8:00 AM. Test rules do not allow students to enter the testing room after the door is closed. The credit recovery lab will be open for seniors working on credit recovery.

Carbon School District is seeking applications for a Girls Head Basketball Coach at Carbon High School in Price, Utah. The Head Girls Basketball Coach has the responsibility for the overall operation of the Girls Basketball program in the Carbon School District in accordance with district and UHSAA rules and regulations. The head coach has primary coaching responsibility for the varsity team but will be committed to working with all levels of the program. The Head Coach must have a commitment to the philosophy of providing a structured, developmentally appropriate, increasingly competitive and dignified program. Must have successful coaching experience and effective interpersonal and communication skills. Respond to emergencies and administers first aid, CPR and other medical attention as needed. Will work with the Athletic Director to schedule competitions and make arrangements. Must have the ability to work well with students, parents, school staff and community members. Attends and participates in staff meetings and trainings. Previous coaching experience required.  Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Good working knowledge of basketball programs a must. Performs other related duties as assigned.  Must be able to pass a live screen fingerprint background test. The ASVAB Career Exploration exam will be offered at 8:00 am on Wednesday March 20th at the Carbon School District office for students in 10-12th grade. Students who would like to participate need to sign up in the counseling office.
