Carbon School District is seeking applications for an Assistant Cheer Coach at Carbon High School in Price, Utah. The Assistant High School Cheerleading Coach promotes sportsmanship and physical fitness among students. Supervises all cheerleader activities, and works closely with other staff and the administration. Coordinate and supervise cheerleading activities at district, league, state, and other levels.  Assist the head coach in designing training program.  Promote sportsmanship and physical fitness.  Ensure that all cheerleader activities conform to UHSAA guidelines. Handle other tasks as assigned. Previous experience as a Cheer Coach or Cheerleader is a plus.  Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.   Must also be able to pass a Live Scan fingerprint background screening. Tryouts for the 2024-25 CHS Cheer and Drill Teams Registration for Competitive Cheer and Drill for the 2024-25 school year are now open on Aktivate. If you are planning to tryout for either team you must be registered on Aktivate prior to the tryout date for each team. Cheer tryouts will be held April 9-11 and Drill tryouts will be held April 17-19. Please get this taken care of ASAP. Please call 435-613-4227 for more information or questions.

Reminder tomorrow is our ACT testing day. The only students that need to come to school are juniors. Regulations are listed below: These are ACT regulations and failure to follow them will result in you being removed from the testing session. Rooms will open at 7:45 AM and doors will be shut promptly at 8:00. Once the doors are shut no students will be allowed into the room. No Smart watches or phones are allowed in the testing rooms. No food or drink allowed in the testing room. No talking will be allowed while the test is going on. Bring an approved calculator, if needed talk to a math teacher to borrow one. Leave all personal belongings in your car, like purses, backpacks, and phones. BRING A PHOTO ID. Bring a #2 pencil. Good luck on the test and we look forward to seeing you in the morning.

Wednesday, March 13th, is Carbon High's ACT day. Only juniors are required to come. Juniors need to be checked in and in their testing rooms by 8:00 AM. Test rules do not allow students to enter the testing room after the door is closed. The credit recovery lab will be open for seniors working on credit recovery.

The Head Girls Basketball Coach has the responsibility for the overall operation of the Girls Basketball program in the Carbon School District in accordance with district and UHSAA rules and regulations. The head coach has primary coaching responsibility for the varsity team but will be committed to working with all levels of the program. The Head Coach must have a commitment to the philosophy of providing a structured, developmentally appropriate, increasingly competitive and dignified program. Must have successful coaching experience and effective interpersonal and communication skills. Respond to emergencies and administers first aid, CPR and other medical attention as needed. Will work with the Athletic Director to schedule competitions and make arrangements. Must have the ability to work well with students, parents, school staff and community members. Attends and participates in staff meetings and trainings. Previous coaching experience required.  Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Good working knowledge of basketball programs a must. Performs other related duties as assigned.  Must be able to pass a live screen fingerprint background test. The ASVAB Career Exploration exam will be offered at 8:00 am on Wednesday March 20th at the Carbon School District office for students in 10-12th grade. Students who would like to participate need to sign up in the counseling office.

Reminder for Juniors, you need to be to the school by 5:30 to line up for promenade. Promenade will begin at 6:00. After the promenade and group dance is over the gym will be cleared and the dance will begin at 7:00.

Students/Parents: Due to Prom tomorrow(March 1st), we will follow the Monday PLC Schedule. Students will be dismissed for lunch at 12:10pm, then they are free to leave campus to prepare for Prom activities. Busses will run at the normal 3:15pm dismissal time.

Students and Parents: A reminder... Course request sheets need to be completed by the morning of Monday, March 4th. Students do not need to enter the courses into Naviance. The counselors will help them enter those in the computer next week. If students need a new course request sheet, the student can pick it up in the counseling office.

On March 21st, Intermountain Electronics will be at Carbon High during lunch to talk about their summer internship program. They will provide lunch and give information about what they do along with how to apply for their internship. Students 16 or older (by June 3rd) are eligible to apply for this opportunity. If you are interested in attending this meeting, please come sign up in the counseling office by lunch on March 20th.

Today school counselors met with 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students to discuss course requests for the 2024-2025 school year. All students were given a paper with course options for next year. Course requests will be completed online through Naviance. Students were instructed how to complete course requests. If needed a PowerPoint with instructions on how to complete course requests will be emailed to the students and will be linked on the CHS website. Please review course offerings with your student, requests will be due at the end of school on Monday March 4th.

We would like to congratulate all of our athletes and coaches for all of their hard work and dedication this winter. It is now time for all of that hard work to payoff at the upcoming state competitions. This weekend is packed! Both Boys and Girls Wrestling will compete at the state tournament at Sevier Valley Center in Richfield on Friday and Saturday. Girls Basketball is hosting a second round tournament game here at CHS on Friday 2/16/24. Our Boys Basketball team is traveling to Richfield High School for their 2nd round game on Saturday 2/17/24. And our Boys and Girls Swimming team is competing in the state swim meet at BYU on Friday and Saturday. Be aware that all tickets to attend these events will need to be purchased on GoFan. There will not be a cash option for these events as they are UHSAA sponsored events. We strongly recommend that you pre-purchase your tickets to avoid long waits. Remember that the only passes that will work to get into any of these events are UHSAA passes.

Tonight, February 13th, Carbon High is holding Parent/Teacher Conferences from 4:00 - 7:00pm. You are invited to come in and meet with you child's teachers. Also tonight, there is a 10th and 11th grade College and Career Readiness (CCR) meeting from 6:00 - 6:30pm in the CHS Auditorium. We hope to see you here!

Tonight, February 12th, Carbon High is hosting Carbon Family Night from 4:00-7:00pm. All district-wide 5th, 8th, & 9th-12th grade students and parents are invited! Our Guest Speaker is Carbon High Graduate & Utah Supreme Court Justice Paige Peterson. She will speak at 5:00pm. The 10th & 11th grade College & Career Readiness meeting will be held at 6:00pm. Teachers will be set up throughout the commons areas to answer questions about their classes. Dinner will also be served. This will be a very engaging and informative night....
