Helper Middle School

Dear Parents and Guardians, Approximately an hour ago we had a report of a potential dangerous person at Carbon High School and the school was immediately put on lock down. Administration and local law enforcement responded and the situation was found to be an unsubstantiated threat. The lock down has been lifted and all after school activities have resumed as normal. We appreciate all involved including the community members who followed guidance from law enforcement and district personnel. Thank you, Mika Salas

Carbon School District is seeking applications for an Elective Paraprofessional Specialist at Helper Middle School in Helper, Utah. Teach at least 3 elective classes.  Attend and participate in school-wide events.  Use approved curricular materials and methods. Develop and implement lessons. Assess and report on student progress.  Communicate effectively with families, faculty and administration.  Participate in professional development activities.  Create a welcoming classroom environment incorporating the school PBIS and SEL curriculum.  Abide by school rules and policies, including the school PBIS system.  Complete other duties as assigned.  Bachelor’s degree in physical education, art, music, performing arts or technology is preferred but not required.  Knowledge and skills required for teaching.  Experience working with diverse learning needs.  Exhibit a passion for teaching and learning. Demonstrate high energy, positive disposition and a strong ability to connect with students. Adept at working as part of a collaborative professional community/proven ability to work with a team on behalf of students. Ability to interact professionally with students, colleagues, parents and school community members. Capable of using or demonstrate a willingness to learn to use Ipad/laptop, smartboard, projector, and related tool requested by Administration. Demonstrate a desire to incorporate technology into the classroom and the ability to teach students to use relevant technology apps, resources or word processing features. Possess excellent oral and written communication skills.   Will work 19-29 hours per week depending on need. **This position begins with the 2024-2025 school year** Beginning pay is $16.71 per hour. Attention parents of 8th grade students: the Youth Mental Health Conference will take place on May 2nd. Please scan the QR code on the flyer or sign the permission slip that your student will bring home. Please be aware that students are expected to behave appropriately while attending the event. If they are unable to do so, they will be brought back to school to finish out their day.

The Head Coach must have a commitment to the philosophy of providing a structured, developmentally appropriate, increasingly competitive and dignified program..Must have successful wrestling coaching experience and effective interpersonal and communication skills. Respond to emergencies and administers first aid, CPR and other medical attention as needed. Will schedule competitions and make arrangements. Attends and participates in staff meetings and trainings. HMS will have a shortened schedule for 6th and 7th graders on Wednesday, March 13th. They will be released at 11:20 am. Lunch will still be served. Route buses will take the students home. 8th grade students will go to the high school for their transition activity. They will return to HMS at approximately 2:45pm. Route buses will take them and the student government officers home. Please contact the office with any questions.

The 2024-2025 school year spend plans for secondary schools are being reviewed and open for public comment in the March 13th Carbon School District Board Meeting during the General Meeting at 5:00pm at the District Office (251 West 400 North, Price)

Develop and implement plans for the curriculum program assigned and show written evidence of preparation as required. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodation for individual student differences. Plan and use appropriate instructional/learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflects accommodation for individual needs of students assigned. Consistently assess student achievement through formal and informal testing. Present a positive role model for students that supports the mission of the school district. Create a classroom environment conducive to learning. Manage student behavior in the classroom and administer discipline according to board policies, regulations, and IEP. Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents. Maintain a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, parents, and community members. Participate in district staff development program. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on committees as required. Any other assignment deemed appropriate by the building principal. Remember we changed this to ONE DAY ONLY to allow parents/students of 8th grade students to attend CHS for the College and Career night. We will have a PTC during 4th quarter as well. Congratulations to the 128 HMS students who qualified for the honor activity for 2nd quarter grades and citizenship!!! They will be traveling by bus to Price on Friday, February 2, 2024 to watch Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. HMS will pay for your students admission and "kids pack" for a snack. Parents, if your student qualified, please make sure they are to school on time because the bus will leave shortly after school starts. If your student did not qualify, they will be able to work on 3rd quarter work to help them get eligible for the next activity. We are so incredibly proud of our RAMS and the hard work they did during 2nd quarter! Go RAMS.

Parents/guardians, don't forget that we will be traveling by bus tomorrow, January 23, 2024 to Carbon High School to attend a Utah Symphony concert. We will load buses at approximately 10:00 am and will return to HMS once the concert concludes. Lunches have been adjusted.
