Carbon School District is seeking applications for a Boys Head Wrestling Coach at Helper Middle School in Helper, UT. The Head Wrestling Coach has the responsibility for the overall operation of the wrestling program at Helper Middle School in accordance with district and CVAA rules and regulations. The head coach has primary coaching responsibility for the team. The Head Coach must have a commitment to the philosophy of providing a structured, developmentally appropriate, increasingly competitive and dignified program..Must have successful wrestling coaching experience and effective interpersonal and communication skills. Respond to emergencies and administers first aid, CPR and other medical attention as needed. Will schedule competitions and make arrangements. Attends and participates in staff meetings and trainings. Performs other related duties as assigned. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and be able to pass a Live Scan Fingerprint background screening. Congratulations to the 128 HMS students who qualified for the honor activity for 2nd quarter grades and citizenship!!! They will be traveling by bus to Price on Friday, February 2, 2024 to watch Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. HMS will pay for your students admission and "kids pack" for a snack.
Parents, if your student qualified, please make sure they are to school on time because the bus will leave shortly after school starts. If your student did not qualify, they will be able to work on 3rd quarter work to help them get eligible for the next activity.
We are so incredibly proud of our RAMS and the hard work they did during 2nd quarter! Go RAMS.
Parents/guardians, don't forget that we will be traveling by bus tomorrow, January 23, 2024 to Carbon High School to attend a Utah Symphony concert. We will load buses at approximately 10:00 am and will return to HMS once the concert concludes. Lunches have been adjusted.

This event will take place on Monday, February 12, 2024 from 4:30 to 6:30pm. Paige Peterson is the keynote speaker and there will be a lot of great information for your 8th grader as they transition to high school. Hope to see everyone there!

Parents/guardians, our students have been invited to watch the Utah Symphony at Carbon High School on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 10:45 am. We will load buses at approximately 10:00 am and will return to HMS when the concert concludes. Lunch times have been adjusted.
Parents/guardians, we are changing parent-teacher conferences to ONE DAY ONLY, February 13, 2024, for 3rd quarter. Carbon High School is holding a transition night for 8th grade students on February 12th that we want to promote. As always, if you cannot attend on February 13, 2024, you can reach out to your child's teachers and arrange another time to meet.
If you have an 8th grade student, there will be more information to come about the transition night. There is also a spaghetti dinner included! Please plan on attending this transition night at Carbon High School on February 12, 2024.

Dear CSD Parents and Guardians,
Early this morning several CSD employees received an email stating that there was a potential threat to schools. We involved our tech department and law enforcement to help us understand the legitimacy of the threat.
We have since learned that the message was sent statewide and to districts in other states. At this point, the message is considered a hoax by law enforcement.
We will share any updates pertinent to Carbon School District students. The safety of our students and staff is our utmost priority.

As our winter weather approaches, we would like to communicate our district's plan to safely transport students during heavy snowfall. COMMUNICATION WILL BE PROVIDED ANY TIME THERE IS AN ADJUSTMENT TO THE NORMAL SCHOOL DAY.
The following plan will be implemented when we experience heavy snowfall such that we cannot safely transport students to school as normally scheduled.
1. Carbon School District does not intend to cancel school for snow. We will use a "Late Start" schedule through the winter months. All district schedules will be adjusted by two (2) hours. For instance, if your child boards the bus at 7:00 on a normal day, they would board at 9:00 on a "Late Start" day. If school starts at 8:10 on a normal day, it will start at 10:10 on a "Late Start" day. The schools will ALWAYS end at the normal time.
2. In most cases, decisions cannot be made until the morning of the heavy snowfall. If an adjustment to the regular schedule is necessary, parents will be notified by 6:00 a.m. using our parent notification system. In addition, messages will be posted on all school and district websites and social media.
3. All Carbon School District preschool programs will be canceled on "Late Start" days.

Carbon School District is seeking applications for a Resource Aide at Helper Middle School in Helper, Utah. Assists teachers with Special Education students to enable learning with minimal disruptions to other students. Due to the varied and individual needs of each student, the Special Education Aide may provide a variety of support and assistance, and should be flexible adjusting to student needs. Special education aides have more responsibility than a typical teacher's aide/assistant. They work alongside special education teachers and/or therapists to teach children with emotional and behavior disorders, intellectual disabilities, problems with communication, or physical disabilities. Will work approximately 29 hours per week. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be able to pass a LiveScan fingerprint background screening. Starting pay is $14.92 per hour. Carbon School District is seeking applications for a Substitute Bus Aide. This is a sub position and will be scheduled when route aides need time off. Will perform a variety of tasks to help support the driver in providing safe and proper transportation of all students to and from school. Must know the proper use of securing devices for safety restraints, wheelchairs and seat belt; will assist the driver in the proper loading and unloading of passengers; maintain student discipline; supervise and assist students in transit; report any concerns regarding students to the driver and to the appropriate building staff.; know the school bus evacuation procedures and be physically capable to evacuate students in an emergency; learn the bus route and provide route information that includes driver directions for the best way to reach a location for a substitute or newly assigned bus driver, occupy a seat that provides the best opportunity for student supervision while the bus is in motion. Can work up to 20 hours per week. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must complete a Live Scan fingerprint background check. Beginning pay is $14.92 per hour. We will be sending out an email later this afternoon with the instructions of how to enroll your student. This email will ONLY go to those students still needing to be enrolled. This MUST be done ASAP so that the school has updated information, your student can be publicly recognized, and for the school to have emergency contact information. Attention Boys Wrestling participants. Open mats will be held Monday - Thursday from 3:30 - 5:30 pm and will begin Monday, October 16th. The activity bus leaves at 5:20 pm. The coaches are aware of this and will make accommodations accordingly.
6th grade parents/guardians, do not forget that the bus for the field trip tomorrow October 11th leaves at 7:35 AM SHARP. Please make sure your student is to school no later that 7:25 AM. Remember if they did not order a lunch from the cafeteria, they need to bring a home lunch.
7th grade parents/guardians, the bus for Glen Ray's Corn Maze leaves HMS at approximately 8:20 AM. Please make sure your student is on time for school. Remember they are getting pizza served for lunch, but they are also welcome to bring a home lunch.
8th grade parents/guardians, this is a wonderful time for your student to make up any missing work with their teachers before the end of the quarter. They will have a normal day, so please ensure your student is in attendance.
