Carbon School District is seeking applications for a Check & Connect Aide. Check & Connect is an intervention used with K-12 students who show warning signs of disengagement with school and who are at risk of dropping out. At the core of Check & Connect is a trusting relationship between the student and a caring, trained mentor who both advocates for and challenges the student to keep their educational goals moving forward. Students are referred to Check & Connect when they show warning signs of disengaging from school, such as poor attendance, behavioral issues, and/or low grades. WIll work 29 hours per week. Sally Mauro teachers had a little decorating contest. We turned our classroom cleaning sprayers into works of art. First place was Ms. Parry with her duck. Second place was Mrs. Marquez with her unicorn. Third place was Ms. Crocco with her monster. Winners received certificates for lessons taught by Mr. Allen and extra recess supervised by Mr. Allen. All of us at Sally Mauro want to wish you all a happy Thanksgiving.

The PTA has started a Penny War at Sally Mauro. Students are bringing pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters as well as dollar bills to win a chance at picking Mr. Allen’s new “hair color”. Please remember that pennies and bills add to the classroom total and add points to your class. If you have silver coins(nickel, dime, quarter) , they subtract from the class total so remember to put those in the other classroom jars. The war will end on October 22. Mr. Allen wants to keep his natural color so be the winning class and change it!

Must be able to work well with young children and be able to take direction from the supervising teacher. After school aides helps monitor student activity. This might include helping students with homework, art projects or other endeavors. Aides should help keep students on task so they can finish their work in the time assigned. Prepare the daily snack for the participants. Prepare activities that are developmentally appropriate for the age of the children. Will work approximately 20 hours per week. The school custodian plays an essential role in maintaining the building and supporting a learning environment that promotes health, attitude and pride of students. In addition to regular building maintenance functions, the school custodian provides direct support to classroom teachers in set up and maintenance of furniture and equipment. The school custodian also serves as a role model for students by displaying a professional, courteous, and helpful nature.The duties required of a custodian include replenishing stock in bathrooms, cleaning restrooms, gathering and emptying trash, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, monitoring building safety and security and dusting. Keeping the school as clean and tidy as possible is the overall responsibility of a custodian. They should be prepared to do things like moving heavy furniture to reach corners, cracks and crevices of covered parts of the room. They may have to clean laboratory equipment, such as computers and tables, mow and trim lawns and clean chimneys, flues and pipes with the use of power tools. Will work under the direction of the school principal. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have previous experience in janitorial work. Carbon School District is seeking Sub Bus Drivers. Paid training provided to obtain Class B CDL with passenger and school bus endorsement. Responsible for safely transporting children to and from school and related events. Drives a school transportation vehicle within a prescribed route(s) in accordance with time schedules; picking up and discharging students at designated stops. Transports students and teacher on field trips to various locations; planning necessary route(s) and stops as needed. Maintains order and proper discipline of student passengers according to district policy. Conducts safety and operational inspection of assigned vehicle daily. Reports needed mechanical repairs when necessary. Services buses with gas, diesel fuel, and oil; checks and when necessary fills tires and batteries. Performs periodical safety drills as required by law; completing necessary reports upon request. Maintains cleanliness of vehicle to ensure safe operating condition. Attends various meetings regarding safety, first aid and training updates as required. Attends driver training programs to maintain current knowledge of Utah Motor Vehicle Code and the Education Code as it applies to the operation of vehicles in the transportation of school children. Performs other related duties as required. Will work approximately 20 hours per week. Must be able to pass a Live Scan fingerprint background check (cost $25).
