We have very heavy hearts in the great loss to our Castle Heights Elementary family. Linda Garvin, a beloved 4th grade teacher, died last night due to injuries sustained in an accident. Our Crisis Response Team has been at the school and will continue to provide services for students and staff.
We have resources prepared for parents to help their children as they process grief. Please contact your child’s school if you need help.
We would like to thank the community for the overwhelming support. We would also like to thank you in advance for respecting the families involved by providing the privacy they need.
Lost & Found Reminder: If your child is missing a coat or jacket, please remind them to check the school’s lost and found while they are at school. Many items end up there, especially during colder weather. Thank you for your help!

Carbon School District is seeking applications for a PreSchool Aide at Sally Mauro Elementary School in Helper, Utah. Must have a High School Diploma or GED. Must be able to pass a Live Scan fingerprint background screening. The Preschool Classroom Aide supports the classroom teacher in creating a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment. This role helps provide academic, social, and behavioral support to young learners, assists with small-group instruction, and ensures students receive the individualized attention they need to succeed. Assist the teacher with implementing daily lessons and activities. Work with students individually or in small groups to reinforce skills in literacy, math, and early learning concepts. Support students during centers, play-based learning, and structured activities. Provide support for classroom routines including arrival, dismissal, transitions, and cleanup. The Student Government is sponsoring a food drive that will run from November 17th to 21st. Please donate non-perishable goods if you can. Each classroom will have a designated box for depositing the goods. Thanks for supporting them!

Carbon School District is seeking applications for a part time Custodian at Sally Mauro Elementary School in Helper, Utah. Must have a High School Diploma or GED. Must be able to pass a Live Scan fingerprint background screening. The Part-Time Custodian helps maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming learning environment for students, staff, and visitors. This position is responsible for the general cleaning and upkeep of school facilities, including classrooms, restrooms, hallways, offices, and common areas. Clean and sanitize classrooms, restrooms, offices, and other school areas. Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust floors and surfaces as assigned. Empty trash and recycling receptacles; replace liners as needed. Restock restroom and classroom supplies. Assist with setting up and taking down furniture or equipment for school events or meetings. Perform light maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs or reporting needed repairs. Assist in maintaining building and grounds safety by reporting hazards or damages. Follow district cleaning standards and safety procedures, including proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment. Will work approximately 20 hours per week. Work hours are primarily in the afternoon through evening to accommodate school activities and cleaning schedules. Apply online at www.carbonschools.org
