Carbon School District is seeking applications for a Kitchen Worker at Sally Mauro Elementary School in Helper, Utah. Prepares, produces, and serves a variety of foods from fresh, canned, dry, or frozen states according to recipes and assists in other related tasks in a designated food service production and/or service area Prepares or assists in the preparation of a variety of main and side dishes and accompanying menu items, including sandwiches, salads, meats, vegetables, and fruits as specified by the menu, recipes and production records. Sets up and merchandises food and food service areas and serves food. Practices safe food handling according to State Health Department and CSD Food Services Standard Operating Procedures. There will be a parent meeting tonight 2/15/23 at 5:30 pm in the auditorium regarding our active shooter drill which will take place on April 24th after school. We are still looking for student volunteers. Pizza & Drinks will be provided tonight.

Will provide media services for students, teaching staff and building-level administration in a helpful, positive, congenial and flexible manner.  Assists students and teachers in the use of library facilities and services in the selection of library materials. Performs circulation duties including checking books in and out, sorting and shelving books, and keeping circulation records. Processes new books and materials, keeps track of where books are located. Maintains shelf list. Contacts students about overdue or damaged materials and collects fines. Processes new materials. Maintain discipline in the library. Other duties as assigned. Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent.   This is a part time position, approximately 29 hours per week. Must be able to pass a Live Scan fingerprint background screening.   Beginning pay is $14.92 per hour. FYI: It has come to our attention that if you order a yearbook online this year you will have to pay tax on it. The company is not considered a tax-exempt organization and is required to collect tax. If you order through the school and pay with cash or check you will not have to pay this tax.

Today is our tryout for the archery state team and will be the last practice for those who do not make the team. As mentioned in a previous email, this is a tournament style practice and will last till at least 5:00 pm. If your student cannot try out today, there is an opportunity for them to tryout this Friday. If your student will not be trying out or will be trying out Friday, please let me know. As of tonight, our plan is to run buses and start school at the normal time tomorrow morning. We will continue to monitor the weather reports, accumulation, ice, and plowing efforts. We will notify everyone by 6:00 am tomorrow if there will be a late start. If you do not receive a text notification by 6:00am with information about a late start, then all buses and schools will be on their regular schedule. We hope you enjoy a great evening with your families.

Carbon County Sheriff's office in coordination with Sally Mauro Elementary, Castleview Hospital and Carbon County Emergency Management, plan on doing an active shooter training on April 24 after school. They are looking for volunteers to participate in this training. Students will be bringing home a flyer from the Carbon County Sheriff's office today. There will be a meeting at Sally Mauro on January 11, 2023 at 3:30pm in the auditorium to answer any questions you have about this or how you can participate. Please read it, and feel free to reach out to the school or Sheriff's department if you have any questions.

Will provide paid training for all qualified applicants. Carbon School District is seeking applications for Guest Teachers throughout the District. Guest Teachers provide backup teaching services when full-time teachers are unable to work. Guest Teachers execute lesson plans left by the absent teacher. Guest Teachers create and maintain a respectful and fair classroom culture that fosters safe and productive learning. Guest Teachers monitor, observe, and report student behavior according to school policies and procedures. Must be a high school graduate and be at least age 18.  Will be required to pass a Live Scan fingerprint background check as well as a one hour online training course.  Pay is $100 for a full day and $50 for a half day. Breakfast with Buddies is tomorrow Thursday, November 17, 2022. Students may bring an adult to enjoy READING and breakfast in the Sally Mauro Auditorium before school. It will be from 7:30 -8:00. This event is sponsored by the PTA.

Tomorrow morning is picture retake day. Please send back the picture packet with your child in order to have retakes done.
