Just a reminder that masks are still the rule at school. The following message was sent out by the Carbon School District on Friday as a reminder that we will still be requiring masks to be wore at schools through the end of the school year. CHS parents and students, please help us have a safe and successful end to the school year. CSD - We are grateful to be one of the very few districts in the U.S. to hold in-person school 5 days a week all school year long. We entered the school year with a commitment that "all healthy students need to be in school". Because of our compliance with our reopening plan and all other requirements, this commitment was realized. We are also grateful that our students have been able to participate in most extra-curricular activities and even prom. The Governor, in consultation with the Utah Department of Health, has extended the requirement for wearing masks in our schools until June 15th. Carbon School District is obligated to comply with this mandate. We ask for your support. We do not want to see any non-compliance negatively impact our students being able to participate in all the upcoming learning and activities. With only 7 weeks of school left, let's finish strong with our masks on! For more information on the mask mandate, please visit: https://coronavirus.utah.gov/education/

CARBON HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION We are very excited to announce our graduation date of May 27, 2021. With COVID 19 and restrictions within our state and county as well as policies in place for graduation venues, we have not yet solidified a place or time for graduation. Please know that we are actively working to find the best option for our students and are keeping the health and safety of our community in mind. We will follow the guidelines from our local health department and any state mandates that will affect the graduation ceremony. As soon as a decision has been made, we will announce the place and time. SENIORS: Watch your email for a graduation survey. We want to know your thoughts and ideas on graduation. Time to respond will be limited, so once you get the survey, complete it and submit. For now, mark your calendars for graduation on May 27th.

Hello CHS Parents/Guardians, Carbon High School is committed to doing all we can to try and keep students and guests safe when they are in the building. While we can’t prepare for every possible situation, we try to think ahead of areas where we can practice and improve. One area we are concerned about is what happens if there was an emergency during an event in the gym; a basketball or volleyball game or an assembly? We have been working with the Carbon County Sheriff’s Office to plan a DRILL that would simulate what might happen if a situation were to occur during a basketball game. This DRILL is scheduled to take place on March 4th, at 2:30 PM at Carbon High School. It will only impact activities in the gym, not in the rest of the school. Students in classes will continue learning as normal during the DRILL and will be kept in the classrooms and out of the halls. We are letting parents know so they can be aware of what is going on at the school that afternoon. If you need to check your student out of school early, please be aware that law enforcement will be blocking access to the parking lot starting at 1:30 so you will need to get you student out of class before then. While a few students will be part of the DRILL, the majority of the students will be in classes participating in normal class activities. This DRILL will be completed before school gets out at the end of the day and students will be dismissed at their normal time. We appreciate your support during this DRILL. While we hope to never face any emergency situations, we are confident that DRILLS like this will help us be better prepared for situations that may come up in the future.

Carbon High School would like to congratulate both the boys and girls basketball teams on their success this season. Both teams are currently participating in the State Tournament at the Sevier Valley Center on Richfield. The boys will play in a consolation game against Grand High School tomorrow at 12:00pm. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and children. The girls are playing in the semifinal game against Morgan tomorrow at 3:00pm. Any fans who would like to attend the girls game will need a voucher in order to purchase a tickets. Tickets prices will be the same, the voucher just guarantees a ticket will be available. Mr. Bean will be outside the area at 2:00pm to pass out vouchers for Carbon fans. If you attend both games, the boys at noon and the girls at 3:00, you will be required to buy separate tickets for both games. Before the girls game, the area will be cleared of all fans, and only those with a voucher will be able to buy a ticket for the girls game. Once all the vouchers have been redeemed, if there are any available seats, they will be sold to the general public. We are excited for both teams to continue their run in the State Tournament and wish them both success. GO DINOS!!
