Carbon High School is seeking parents interested in being on the School Community Council. We have had some recent changes to the membership of the Community Council which have created a couple of open positions for parents. Council members serve for a two year team and must have a student at CHS for time they are serving. Community Council meetings are held the 1st Thursday of each month at 6:45 am. Due to COVID-19 meetings are currently held virtually. Carbon School District is seeking applications for a Science Teacher at Carbon High School. Required to teach students on a specific scientific subject. Will plan the curriculum for their classes and then deliver that curriculum. Teachers evaluate and mentor their students. Evaluations usually take the form of grading homework, tests, and projects. Teachers keep records of these grades so students, parents, and school administrators know where the students stand. Mentor students, encouraging them to excel in their schooling. Teachers may also work closely with students interested in the sciences and help direct them to the right educational path. Science subjects also often involve hands-on demonstrations, which the teachers plan and perform. High school science teachers collaborate with other teachers and parents to support the positive progress of their students. This usually involves participating in parent-teacher conferences and school staff meetings. Will enforce school and classroom rules and discipline students, when necessary. This can be a difficult task, but it is necessary to ensure a safe school environment in which all students can freely learn without having to worry about disruptions. High school science teachers may also be involved in extra-curricular activities such as science fairs, science clubs, and other activities. Science teachers report directly to the school administrators. At the minimum, this position requires a bachelor’s degree and a teaching certificate OR the ability to obtain such. Open until filled. Tomorrow the sign up for the student section for the girls basketball game will be located on the school website starting at 8AM. We will be taking the first 50 to sign up.
We wanted to provide some clarification on the previous message this morning. In order for students to be admitted to the game they need to be on the student list or be a sibling of one of the players. Each player will continue to get 4 tickets. Those tickets don't have to be family but do need to be siblings or adults. Sorry for any confusion.
We are happy to announce that UHSAA has allowed us to have a student section at athletic events again. We will be limited to 50 students. For todays game students can sign up in the office. It will be first come first serve. In the future there will be an online link to sign up on the Carbon High School website. Students can no longer get in as a guest of one of the participants. Only students who have signed up will be allowed into the game. Spectators coming for participants must be family members of that participant. Students in the student section must still wear masks or they will be asked to leave. We are excited to have students back at the game, but we ask all those in attendance to continue to follow state guidelines of masks and social distancing.
Carbon School District is seeking applications for a Special Education aide at Carbon High School. Assists Special Education teachers to help students meet educational, academic, life skill, behavioral, physical, social and emotional goals. Assists teachers with Special Education students to enable learning with minimal disruptions to other students. Due to the varied and individual needs of each student, Special Education Aide may provide a variety of support and assistance, and should be flexible adjusting to student needs. Will work in self contained classroom. Will work approximately 29 hours per week. Must have a High School diploma or equivalent. Must be able to pass a Live Scan background check (cost of $25). Carbon School District is seeking applications for Substitute Kitchen workers. These workers will assist kitchen managers with various duties in the school kitchens such as: preparing food, serving students, dishes, cleanup, sweeping, mopping, storing food, and any other duties that may be required. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. A Food Handler's permit is required. Must be able to pass a Live Scan Fingerprint background check which costs $25. Carbon Basketball UPDATE: Due to an accident in the canyon, all games have been delayed. The JV game went into overtime and just finished up.
