Every day, we feel fortunate to have hundreds of people work in our schools to support our students, and we thank them for their ongoing commitment. This last week of school is always a week full of energy, excitement, and hope. Each level of school sends a group of students to advance to a new level of learning or even to a new level of life. We are proud to be a part of their journey.
It has been common practice to read the name of each graduate as they approach the stage to receive their diploma. Students who choose not to attend or cannot attend for a number of reasons are listed in the program, newspaper, and other published material, but their names are typically not read during the ceremony. However, Carbon High reviews requests for recognition for graduates who are unable to attend.
As for the current situation on social media, there has been no request by a graduating student or their family member to have a student's name read who cannot attend the 2023 graduation. As always, conversations are encouraged and essential to understanding and working toward solutions.
We ask that efforts from our community focus on celebrating our graduating seniors. It saddens us to see unnecessary outrage that could have been avoided with a direct conversation.
Once again, thank you to the staff members who have planned this huge event, and congratulations to our accomplished graduates!!!
We have a lot of students who have not paid their school fees for this year. If you haven't paid them please do before Thursday!!

Carbon School District is seeking applications for a School Counselor at Mont Harmon Middle School in Price, Utah. Plays the role of academic advisor to students. If students are not meeting course requirements or are having disciplinary problems, counselors may intervene to remedy the situation. The first priority of the counselor is to ensure that students perform their best academically. Counselors in secondary education are tasked with helping adolescents navigate the unique educational, social and behavioral obstacles related to attending school. They must also act as social workers, seeking to identify home-based problems that may negatively impact the academic and social development of students. A school counselor is expected to be very knowledgeable of career preparation in order to provide advice to students regarding education and employment options after high school. Common duties include supplying school-to-career guidance, interpreting standardized test scores, developing guidance curriculum, providing student resources, counseling individual students, coordinating with social service agencies, maintaining records, facilitating conferences and orientating new students. They may work with students one-on-one, in a private setting with teachers and parents, or with peers in a group assembly or discussion forum. Must have a Master's Degree and a current Utah School Counselor License or have the ability to receive the license in a timely manner. Carbon School District would like to thank the Wellington Fire Department, Wellington Police Department, and the Utah Highway Patrol for their immediate and thorough response to a minor collision involving a school bus this morning. Wellington had 8 responders arrive on the scene. Those responders were split into two teams. One team of two firefighters and EMTs worked on checking the other vehicle involved and the occupants of that vehicle. The second team of two firefighters, an advanced EMT, and a paramedic evaluated the school bus driver and students. A second bus was dispatched to the scene to safely transport the students to school.
We greatly appreciate the continued collaboration between first responders and district personnel.
