Attention 5th Grade Parents, Tonight, May 3rd @5-7pm Mont Harmon Middle School will be holding their Annual Pirate Treasure Hunt for incoming 6th Graders and their parents. This is a great opportunity for you and your student to check out the school and have some fun. Fliers were emailed to the students and parents last week, so check your email for more details. Carbon School District is seeking applications for a Speech Language Pathologist. Speech-language Pathologists (SLPs) work to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in children. The Speech/Language Pathologist assists in developing speech and language skills to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students. In order to respond to the individual needs and abilities of students, the Speech/Language Pathologist must work closely with the staff and administration of the cooperative and school district. Assist in the early recognition and prevention of educational problems. Monitor student progress and make informed, timely educational decisions. Conduct speech, language, and hearing screenings and diagnostic evaluations to determine the need for clinical services. Participate as a team member in the comprehensive evaluation, review, and reevaluation process. Participate in the development of student IEP's.  Adhere to required program guidelines as defined by the plan for Special Education. Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and others concerning the needs of students and special services that are available. Assist teachers in the development and implementation of curriculum modifications and appropriate classroom strategies. Refer students and their families to appropriate community agencies and services. Cooperate with agencies serving students and their families. Provide therapy, followup, and/or consultation based on student IEP's. Motivate students through effective communication and evaluative feedback.  Demonstrate awareness of the needs of students and provide for individual differences. Must hold a current Utah Speech Pathologist license or be able to receive such.  *Current CSD employees who wish to apply must complete the first 4 steps of the application process but are not required to complete the entire application unless they desire to do so.*

On March 22nd Bruin Point Elementary School will be holding Kindergarten Registration from 9-11am. Please make sure you bring your child's birth certificate and immunization records. See you Monday!

BPE Families, Due to COVID Valentine's Day Celebrations will be a little different than previous years. We have decided to allow students to bring Valentine's Cards and boxes to school on Friday, February 12th. Students can bring boxes already made or they can make one at school. Valentine's cards can be brought but no treats are allowed to come to school with their cards. Please do not send cards with candy attached or candy cards. All snacks or treats will be provided by the school. No outside treats will be allowed (just like Halloween and Christmas). COVID guidelines state that items should be quarantined for 24-48 hours. Therefore, students will not be taking their Valentine's boxes home until the following Tuesday when students return to school after Presidents' Day. Just a reminder- The Virtual Christmas Program will begin at 1pm. It will stream live on Bruin Point's Facebook page. We are not sure it we will be able to record and provide CD's for families. We are still working on it. Please join us in Celebrating the holidays. Our beautiful children have worked very hard in preparing this special performance.

Parents, Tonight is the last night to register your child online for their free adventure pass from PBS-https://www.pbsutah.org/28th-annual-reading-marathon. This reward is for the Reading Marathon for the months of Oct-Dec (600 minutes total). After you register, you will receive an email with the pass to be printed. It takes only a minute. If you cannot print the pass at home, please contact the school and we will print it for you.

Carbon School District is seeking applications for a Check & Connect Aide. Check & Connect is an intervention used with K-12 students who show warning signs of disengagement with school and who are at risk of dropping out. At the core of Check & Connect is a trusting relationship between the student and a caring, trained mentor who both advocates for and challenges the student to keep their educational goals moving forward. Students are referred to Check & Connect when they show warning signs of disengaging from school, such as poor attendance, behavioral issues, and/or low grades.  WIll work 29 hours per week. Dear BPE Families, Many of you received a phone call today regarding a proposal to have Monday, Dec. 14th as a teacher work day and not have students attending school. This proposal was not approved for this coming Monday. BPE will have students in school on Monday, Dec 14th. Thank you to all that provided input on this matter.
