Carbon School District is seeking applications for a Custodian at Carbon High School in Price UT. The school custodian plays an essential role in maintaining the building and supporting a learning environment that promotes health, attitude and pride of students. In addition to regular building maintenance functions, the school custodian provides direct support to classroom teachers in set up and maintenance of furniture and equipment. The school custodian also serves as a role model for students by displaying a professional, courteous, and helpful nature.The duties required of a custodian include replenishing stock in bathrooms, cleaning restrooms, gathering and emptying trash, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, monitoring building safety and security and dusting. Keeping the school as clean and tidy as possible is the overall responsibility of a custodian. They should be prepared to do things like moving heavy furniture to reach corners, cracks and crevices of covered parts of the room. They may have to clean laboratory equipment, such as computers and tables, mow and trim lawns and clean chimneys, flues and pipes with the use of power tools. Will work under the direction of the school principal and the Head Custodian. Safety, cleanliness and continued efficiency of operation shall be a major goal at all times. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee frequently must squat, stoop or kneel, reach about the head and reach forward. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools and climb on to ladders. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing the duties of this job. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as cleaning supplies, pails and unloading trucks. Occasionally the employee will lift and/or move up to 100 pounds such as salt and bulk furniture. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables, bleachers, and scrubbing machines Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have previous experience in janitorial work. Seniors: If you did NOT get your photo taken at school pictures on August 23rd, you will have the opportunity to have it taken on September 2nd from 8:30AM-10:30AM. Those are the only 2 hours they will be here. They will only be doing senior photos on September 2nd, no other classes will get their pictures done. If you did not get your picture on August 23rd and cannot make it on September 2nd, you will have to wait until they return for re-takes on October 11th. Please email Mrs. Pritt with any questions.

We Forms need to be turned into the Carbon High front office no later than September 6th. School Community Council elections will be held September 8th if there are more candidates than open seats.

Driver's education instructors teach students how to operate a car as well as safe driving techniques.A driver's education instructor imparts knowledge of defensive driving skills, state driving laws, accident causality and avoidance, and basic traffic courtesy to future drivers. Must be able to educate students in both theoretical and practical formats. Will teach the classroom portion of the class and possibly in the car if all certifications are completed. Must have a Bachelor's degree. Must be WILLING to obtain a Utah Driver's Education certificate. This is a part time position working approximately 29 hours per week.
