Ken Garff's philanthropic foundation, Success in Education, is launching its new initiative Women Who Succeed, and would love to make this program available to Helper Middle School female students.
There are 250 spots available for young women ranging 6th grade- college graduates across the state of Utah.
This free program provides:

Internships
Networking and individual mentoring by Utah female leaders, including CEOs, politicians, entrepreneurs, scientists, researchers, and executives.

HMS Parents: Reminder 6th grade field trip in the morning to the Wave Pool Please have students bring swimwear and school clothes to change into after swimming. We will be back for lunch. 7th grade Bowling after lunch.
HMS Parents: We have just had an anonymous donor offer to cover the costs for our field trips. You will not need to send any money to the office. Your student will only need to bring cash for their snacks and amusement purchases. We will refund anything that has already been submitted. We are so grateful for this generous contribution.

HMS Parent: We are planning an 8th grade field trip to Boondocks on Wed. 5/19. Cost will be $16. Please plan to pay in the office before we leave on Wed. We will not return in time for the normal buses home so please plan for rides.
HMS: We will begin our End of Level testing today and will continue it through next week. Testing will occur in the morning before lunch with odd/even classes after lunch.
Boys Basketball Skills Camp will be Saturday from 9-10:30 am at HMS. (5th Graders Invited)
Track students need to be at the school at 7:45 on Friday, May 7. The bus will leave the school at 8:00 am.
Carbon School District is seeking applications for a Head Cheer Coach at Helper Middle School. Will be responsible for training cheerleaders. Duties include creating choreographies, organizing practice sessions, monitoring each cheerleader, recommending safe techniques and supervising warm ups. Will be responsible to pick new members each Spring. Previous experience as a cheerleader and/or coach is a plus. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. This is a part time position, approximately 20 hours per week. HMS-Tomorrow’s cheer open gym will be from 4-6:30 with a parent meeting at 6:45.
Information for the April 30, 2021 track meet...
- Bus will leave for Carbon High at 8:15 am
- Events should start at around 9:30 am
- Bring a lunch with you to the meet. You will NOT be allowed to leave for lunch.
- Bring sunscreen and WATER
- Dress appropriately for the weather in the morning
- If you plan on staying to watch the high school compete, have a note from your parent/guardian.
- Do not leave the meet until you have checked out with permission from Mrs. Cartwright.
Track practice is at Helper Middle School today (4/28). We will end practice at 4:30 today. Students will need to make arrangements for a ride today there will no activity bus option.

Carbon School District is seeking applications for a Speech Language Pathologist. Speech-language Pathologists (SLPs) work to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in children. The Speech/Language Pathologist assists in developing speech and language skills to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students. In order to respond to the individual needs and abilities of students, the Speech/Language Pathologist must work closely with the staff and administration of the cooperative and school district. Assist in the early recognition and prevention of educational problems. Monitor student progress and make informed, timely educational decisions. Conduct speech, language, and hearing screenings and diagnostic evaluations to determine the need for clinical services. Participate as a team member in the comprehensive evaluation, review, and reevaluation process. Participate in the development of student IEP's. Adhere to required program guidelines as defined by the plan for Special Education. Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and others concerning the needs of students and special services that are available. Assist teachers in the development and implementation of curriculum modifications and appropriate classroom strategies. Refer students and their families to appropriate community agencies and services. Cooperate with agencies serving students and their families. Provide therapy, followup, and/or consultation based on student IEP's. Motivate students through effective communication and evaluative feedback. Demonstrate awareness of the needs of students and provide for individual differences.
