Carbon School District is seeking applications for a Chromebook Support Technician in the District Technology Center. Must have a high school diploma or GED. Must be able to pass a Live Scan fingerprint background screening. All Carbon School District High School students are issued a Chromebook device for use at school and to take home. This part time position as a Chromebook Support Technician will provide primary support for the students using these Chromebooks. Works under the general supervision of the District Technology Coordinator. Provide before school support to students that have problems with their school issued electronic device. Issue and track loaner devices for students that have a device on repair or do not have a device available for school use. Perform basic repairs such as replacing broken screens, keyboards, and troubleshooting battery charging issues. Help students with password and or login problems with their electronic device. Assist in the delivery and collection of student devices throughout the school year. Assist with inventory tracking of student issued electronic devices. Performs other duties as assigned. Knowledge of common chrome book programs (Apps) with ability to learn specialty programs used by District and/or schools. Ability to work independently to diagnose and resolve technical problems. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and move about the work area; use hands to handle objects, fingers to feel objects, use tools, or controls; and speak or hear. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds. Carbon School District is seeking applications for a 6th grade Language Arts/Science Teacher at Mont Harmon Middle School in Price, Utah. Must have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. Valid Utah Teaching certificate, or willingness to complete the requirements to earn a professional license. The English Language Arts teacher is responsible for creating a classroom environment that develops in each student the skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing that are fundamental to literate citizenship; the ELA teachers supports the development and appreciation of good literature of all types; motivates students to read widely for information and recreation; develops standards for critical judgement of written and oral communications; discovers and develops special talents of students and is attentive to student special needs.
Will also be required to teach a Science curriculum. Required to teach students on a specific scientific subject. Will plan the curriculum for their classes and then deliver that curriculum. Teachers evaluate and mentor their students. Evaluations usually take the form of grading homework, tests, and projects. Teachers keep records of these grades so students, parents, and school administrators know where the students stand. Mentor students, encouraging them to excel in their schooling. Teachers may also work closely with students interested in the sciences and help direct them to the right educational path. Science subjects also often involve hands-on demonstrations, which the teachers plan and perform. Science teachers collaborate with other teachers and parents to support the positive progress of their students. This usually involves participating in parent-teacher conferences and school staff meetings. Will enforce school and classroom rules and discipline students, when necessary. Ensure a safe school environment in which all students can freely learn without having to worry about disruptions. Carbon School District is seeking applications for a District Girls Head Wrestling Coach for the Middle Schools. The Head Wrestling Coach has the responsibility for the overall operation of the Girls wrestling program in accordance with district and CVAA rules and regulations. The head coach has primary coaching responsibility for the team. The Head Coach must have a commitment to the philosophy of providing a structured, developmentally appropriate, increasingly competitive and dignified program. Must have successful wrestling coaching experience and effective interpersonal and communication skills. Respond to emergencies and administers first aid, CPR and other medical attention as needed. MHMS Parents: We will be giving out and signing yearbooks tomorrow (5/21) for the last two periods of the day. We still have additional yearbooks available for purchase until Thursday, but we only have a certain amount left.
MHMS Parents: If your child is taking a PE explorations class from Mr. Lasso, this quarter, there will be a fishing day on Tuesday, May 21. For this activity, we are in need of some fishing poles for the students to use. If you have any extra that our students can borrow, please bring them to the office before Tuesday morning.
MHMS Parents: Due to the construction to the front of our building, the bus circle will be closed at the end of the day tomorrow. The top parking lot will be used for bus pickup instead. There are no parent pick-ups or parking in the top parking lot after morning drop-off. Thanks for your understanding.
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Approximately an hour ago we had a report of a potential dangerous person at Carbon High School and the school was immediately put on lock down.
Administration and local law enforcement responded and the situation was found to be an unsubstantiated threat.
The lock down has been lifted and all after school activities have resumed as normal.
We appreciate all involved including the community members who followed guidance from law enforcement and district personnel.
